In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, the 44-year-old singer and actor conveyed his disappointment: “You guys, I’m heartbroken. I have to cancel the show tonight.” Timberlake revealed that he arrived for soundcheck battling the flu, and unfortunately, his condition had deteriorated by showtime. He reassured fans, saying, “It kills me to disappoint you and my team who worked so hard to make this show happen. You will be refunded for your tickets. I love you all,” though he did not offer further details.

Most supporters were sympathetic, with one fan commenting, “I flew in from CA, but you know what… your health comes first. True fans know that. Love you. Feel better.” However, the timing of this recent cancellation has sparked frustration among fans, many of whom were already at the Nationwide Arena when they received the news. Although Timberlake assured ticket holders they would get refunds, the last-minute announcement led to significant backlash.

One fan expressed, “Canceling due to illness is totally understandable, but doing it 10 minutes before the doors opened is unacceptable.” Several attendees voiced concerns over the logistical and financial challenges caused by this abrupt change, with one noting, “We traveled and rescheduled hotels not once, but twice—none of which are refundable.”

“If it was the flu, we would’ve known before 7:00pm,” one upset fan wrote. “Sad, people paid to travel, park and eat.. not to be disappointed a SECOND time. Shame on you, Justin. Admit you have a problem rather than disappointing & wasting 1000s of people’s time.”

Another irritated fan commented, “This should be rescheduled not refunded. Canceling once is understandable but not twice. I’m sorry if someone is sick but it needs to be made right. We have traveled and spent extra money twice for a last minute notification…not acceptable.”

“Okay so….doors shouldn’t have been opened if you knew at sound check you weren’t feeling good. Some of us traveled and rescheduled hotels not once but twice that is non refundable,” a disappointed fan chided.

“This is literally the 2nd time this has happened and there’s not even a reschedule. We drove 3 hours and paid for a hotel room and you tell us 5 minutes before it starts that it’s canceled,” the user vented, calling Timberlake’s decision “unacceptable.”

This Isn’t The First Time Justin Timberlake Has Cancelled The Show

This incident marks not the first time Timberlake has canceled a show at the last minute. In October 2024, he postponed a concert in Newark, NJ, due to an undisclosed injury. Some fans noted a troubling pattern, feeling that he hasn’t communicated effectively with ticket holders. “This is literally the second time this has happened, and there’s no reschedule. We drove three hours, booked a hotel, and found out five minutes before the show that it was canceled,” a frustrated attendee shared.

About Justin Timberlake’s Forget Tomorrow World Tour

Despite the criticism, Timberlake is set to continue his Forget Tomorrow World Tour in South America. His next performance is planned for March 21 at Lollapalooza Argentina. It will be followed by additional shows throughout Europe. He announced the tour during a January 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He also released his new single “Selfish” and revealed the title of his album, Everything I Thought It Was. It debuted in March, six years after his previous album, Man of the Woods.
